| Laphroaig |

Laphroaig 10 Year Old is an
all-malt Scotch Whisky from the remote island of Islay in the Western
Isles of Scotland. Laphroaig, pronounced "La-froyg", is a Gaelic word
meaning "the beautiful hollow by the broad bay". The 7 year olf variant
is so much different :) |

The taste on the palette is
sweet, smokey, with hints of finest Madeira wine and has a long, mellow
finish, with echoes of a raisiny Xmas pudding. |

Matured wholly in air-dried,
hand-selected ex-bourbon casks, the 'unashamedly excellent' Old
Pulteney 12-years-old is the definitive expression in the Old Pulteney
family. Traditionally crafted using techniques that other distillers
have long abandoned, this winner of numerous gold medals at the most
prestigious international competitions is a high water-mark of quality
spirits. |
| Tormore |
![]() |
Tormore is a comparatively
modern distillery, having been built by the Schenley International
company in 1959. This made it the first 20th century distillery
to be built in the Highlands, a circumstance that generated
considerable interest. The architect of the new distillery was
Sir Albert Richardson, the president of the Royal Academy, and the
distillery buildings are so pretty that the distillery's appearance has
been likened to a spa by more than one commentator. Despite these favourable characteristics (and its large capacity of over 3.5 million litres/year) almost all of the production from the distillery is destined for owners Chivas Group's blended whiskies (the distillery was bought as part of the Allied Domecq aquisition by Chivas parent Pernod Ricard in 2005). The present official bottling of Tormore is a 12 year old, although an Allied-era 15yo is also still available. Independent bottlings are unusual. Nose: Meadow smells, grass and wild flowers (heather), varnish and cereal (grist and malty cereal); some spice and herbs with water. Taste: Full bodied and oily, but light and slightly acidic. Orange peel Notes: Water kills it, sours it and lengthens the finish. Drink straight. |
